Eames Consulting is working with a multinational insurer looking to bring on a Claims Examiner in Texas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Determines type of claim and reserves to be opened, establishes reserves and completes input for opening claim file.

* Obtains statements from all involved parties and completes liability determination.

* With Supervisors approval, assigns field investigation to independent adjusters, experts, other outside vendors.

* Evaluates, negotiates and settles assigned claims within delegated settlement authority.

* Send releases, checks, correspondence, proof of loss, etc. and completes appropriate reporting format in file.

* Maintains control of file and workflow through proper documentation and diary system.

* Ensures reserve adequacy through frequent, timely review and evaluation of information obtained during the course of the investigation

* Identifies subrogation and salvage recovery issues and follows recovery procedures.

* Maintains files based upon the company's claim handling guidelines and per the applicable Department of Insurance fair claims handling practices regulations.

* Exercises proactive litigation management to resolve matters in suit

* Review, adjust and approved defense counsel budgets and invoices according to company guidelines

* Attend trials and mediation as needed

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Education or Experience

· College degree is preferred or appropriate prior work experience.

· Minimum 5 years of experience handling commercial auto or similar claims.
