I am partnering exclusively with a highly established Lloyds Insurer is currently hiring for a Senior Technical Accountant to join their London team. This is a newly created role that has arisen through a strategic expansion across the Finance function due to a new CFO joining the business this year.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for all inwards Insurance transactions in the financial results
  • Ownership of any manual processing required related to inwards insurance transactions
  • Responsibility for technical intercompany reconciliations with service companies, including being first point-of-contact for intercompany partners
  • Intermediate understanding of and responsibility for reconciliations and control of automated reserving (e.g. IBNR) transactions in the ledger
  • First point-of-contact for auditors for inwards insurance and reserving
  • Responsibility for analysing and producing commentary on the inwards insurance result
  • Responsibility and first point-of-contact for any downstream reporting (including Lloyd's Regulatory and Head Office) and external queries relating to inwards insurance and reserving transactions
  • Intermediate understanding of and responsibility for reconciliations and control of automated insurance transactions in the ledger
  • Secondary responsibility for outwards reinsurance and intercompany transactions

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Insurance technical accounting gained either from the Insurance Industry or Big 4 Insurance Audit team - Essential
  • Lloyd's Market experience - Preferred
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) - Essential
  • Proven process improvement skills including the ability to identify areas for improvement - Essential
  • Strong controls and reconciliations experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Inquisitive mindset with proven problem solving skills
  • Ability explain complex data in simple terms
  • Experience with Oracle general ledger - Preferred

It is therefore essential that you also have strong stakeholder management skills.
